Sustainable development

Communities and Local Government is a major "quality of life" department with the aim of developing thriving, inclusive and sustainable communities in all regions.

In addition to our work to achieve this aim, our actions as a large organisation help demonstrate our commitment to the pursuit of the UK's sustainable development strategy. For more information see Securing the Future (external link) published in 2005 on the sustainable development website. 

Iain Wright MP is our Sustainable Development Minister. He has responsibility for pursuing this agenda and ensuring we make progress against the Sustainable Operations on the Government Estate targets.
