Community Power Packs

Communities in control: real people, real power was launched on 9 July 2008. This White Paper is about passing power to communities and giving real control and influence to more people.

But the White Paper does not signify the end of work in this area. In fact we hope that it will encourage people to think and talk more about these issues. The White Paper will lead to a number of consultations and we will be keen to hear your views.

To support this we have refreshed our Community Power Pack (launched in April 08) to help community groups to give feedback to government.

The Community Power Pack is a practical guide, which can help people play a more active role in their community and influence decisions that matter to them. It is easy to read and focused on fun and creative activities.

There are many opportunities to influence government decisions today, but for many community members it is hard to know where to start. This document provides help and support with planning and running community events in easy and low cost ways.

How will it be promoted?

We will be working with our stakeholders to ensure that the Community Power Pack has as far a reach as possible and is available to community groups. In addition, we have produced two flyers - one for use by our stakeholders and one directed at community groups to help to promote the Power Pack. Please email us if you would like a copy of these flyers.
